A farewell to Discover Mediaworks

Discover Mediaworks was a great place to work, from 2007 – 2011. In honor of the time spent together, I wrote up a little breakup letter on my last day. Was it a little much? Maybe, but sometimes that’s the right way to do things. I’d rather give too much on everything than never give enough. Without further ado, my one and only email breakup letter.

——————————

Discover Mediaworks staff,

I’m writing to tell you I’m breaking up with you. I’m sorry.

It’s not your fault, it’s mine. We were getting along fine, but I’ve just decided I have to move on. I think we need to see new people. You were great, but… I need to see who else is out there for me. I could either be content here, or go out and try to find the love of my life. I’m not breaking up with you because of anything you did. Those weekend shoots weren’t what did it – I actually enjoyed them. And Dairy News wasn’t as bad as we always made it out to be. I could even handle dealing with Chris and CJ. I can’t point to anything specific, I just need to meet new people, do new things, and, you know…. keep on moving forward. Hard though it may be, I think we’re at a point in our lives where this will be better for both of us. I really want to stress that no, there isn’t anyone else. I know, some of those late nights I’ve pulled may have looked suspicious, but I’ve been faithful, I swear.

Don’t worry, I don’t need you out of my life right away. We can still be friends, I promise! I know, everyone says that, but I really do mean it. Don’t be sad, really, I’m sure things will work out. I won’t go telling your friends about the breakup either. I’ll let you figure out how to tell them about it. I really don’t mean to make this harder than it has to be.

Of course, in order to make sure there aren’t any problems, I’m moving away. Not that far away – Just to Milwaukee. You can come visit! And I’ll still be around on a regular basis. I’m just a phone-call away, and I’ll still help take care of anything that you need a hand with, from those pesky computer questions that we can deal with via phone or email, to swinging by to help out with things around your place.

Please don’t take this too hard. I really have loved being with you, and I’ll always have a special place for you in my heart. I hope you’ll find it in you to forgive me someday. In the meantime, I really do hope for nothing but the best for you.

Love always,

Randy Lee
